Product Update: Separate Contacts and Companies, Plus Navigation Changes

We took your feedback on aspects of the CRM you found confusing and made it simpler to navigate.
Updated on:
You can now easily navigate to contacts and companies separately

Note: we’re in the process of making some changes to improve the CRM. Your CRM may look a bit different now, but the functionality is the same. If you’d like to get the new updates now, contact us!

We've made a handful of changes to how the CRM is laid out to make things easier to find. Here's what's different.

Your navigation button now says "CRM" instead of "Contacts"

This is the first thing you'll notice. The item in your navigation that used to say Contacts now says CRM.

We renamed it because it does more than contacts now, which brings us to the bigger change.

Contacts and companies are now two separate lists

Your contacts and companies used to live together in one list. New customers told us over and over that it made their list feel duplicated: you'd see a person and their company sitting right next to each other and wonder whether something had imported twice.

Now they're split. Clicking CRM takes you to either your contacts or your companies, and you can switch between the two anytime. Each one is its own clean list.

Work with companies more than people? You can flip the order

By default, contacts come first, since most of our customers are selling to individuals.

But plenty of you are B2B, and thinking company-first is just how your business works. If that's you, an admin on your account can change it. Go to your settings, choose to customize your CRM, and reorder companies above contacts. Your company list then becomes the one you land on by default.

Filters moved to the top of the page

Filters used to sit in a panel on the left side of the page, tucked into a menu that could collapse and take them out of sight. If you didn't already know they were there, you might never have found them. And if you did know, you still had to go dig them out every time.

Now they run along the top of the page, right above the list you're filtering. They're visible the moment you land on the page, they stay put instead of collapsing away, and you can see what you've got applied at a glance.

Nothing about how filters work has changed. Same options, same behavior, just somewhere you'll actually notice them.

Reports moved to where you'd expect them

Reports used to live in their own section of the navigation, and people had trouble finding them. So we moved them to where we noticed people looking:

  • Pipeline reports (like your Leads report) now live under CRM, right alongside your contacts and companies.
  • Activity and task reports now live under the Workspace tab.
